Upcoming Chapter events
Welcome to EAA Chapter 1114!
Congratulations! You have arrived at one of the largest and most active Experimental Aircraft Association chapters in
the southeastern USA.
EAA1114 offers something for every aviation interest in central North Carolina: homebuilding, vintage, warbirds, ultralights, fly-ins, fly-outs, workshops, aviation history and good old hangar flying.
*New* - COVID-19 - Stay safe out there and do your part to slow the spread. We don't have up-to-date status on all the events in our calendar. You can probably assume things are cancelled unless told otherwise. Let's do our best to stay healthy and we'll see you on the other side as soon as possible!
Just Aircraft visits Cox Aerodrome - Thanks to Billy Payne and Gary Schmitt for joining us for our pancake breakfast meeting on 2/15. Billy provided an entertaining and detailed history of the products, the company, and his personal involvement. Gary Schmitt flew in with a beautiful SuperSTOL and gave us a nice demo of its STOL capabilities. Very interesting and exciting visit. Thanks so much guys!
IMC & VMC Club meeting day, time, and location changes in Feb - Beginning with the Feb meetings, IMC and VMC Club meeting time will change to 6pm, and will move to the brand new FBO building at KTTA. After the IMC meeting on Tues Feb 11, IMC will meet on 2nd Weds, and VMC will meet on 3rd Weds. See details on the calendar page.
Commercial ground school - The Kitty-Hawk 99s will offer a commercial rating ground school beginning Feb 18th. Contact Jan Squillace for details.
Our own Dan Moore makes Sport Aviation - Dan is featured on pages 100-101 of the Dec 2019 Sport Aviation describing building The Transmogriflier, his Just Aircraft SuperSTOL, with help from his son. Very nice article. Congratulations Dan! Click here to see the article.

Power Lines and runways don't mix - After Bob Barrows' recent accident involving a power line on approach to land, we're helping identify any airports where power lines interfere with the runway. If you know of any examples, please send a short description, including the airport, runway, description of power line, approximate height and distance from end of runway, whether marked or not, maybe photos, and any additional relevant details to our facilities coordinator. Thanks for your help!
